Dyson Design Award

James Dyson Award is an international design contest that promotes, encourages and inspires the next generation of design engineers. It’s available to engineering students and proposes the redesign and improvement of a product but keeping in mind the actual issues.

Problem statement

The plastic pollution of the oceans. The microplastics are presents in every ocean and sea. The Valencian coast it’s no exception; the mediterranean sea, due to its shape, has become an accumulation spot.
We want to solve this problem and make people aware of this invisible issue that should concern all of us.

Our solution

We suggest the redesign of a mooring buoy with filtering technology so it can collect and reduce the microplastics in the water. It consist of a sustainable product and with a finished live circle, with it we are trying to eradicate microplastics from the mediterranean coast and make people aware of this major issue.
